Considerations for Airsoft Gun Safety

There is a reason that the combat sport of airsoft requires safety gear and other special equipment; the potential for causing true harm with an airsoft gun is very real. It is a universal guideline that an airsoft player has unequivocally identified his or her target before taking a shot. Unclear shots or shooting through obstructed settings can mean grave injury for all involved. An airsoft gun should be kept empty until it is in use and should never be pointed at an unprotected person, child, animal or police officer. Most players know the guideline of keeping their finger off of the trigger until it is time to take the shot.

Airsoft guns use plastic pellets that can shoot two hundred and fifty feet per second at a minimum. Even though other guns can shoot at a higher range, there are some airsoft players that modify their weapons to shoot at even greater velocities. Therefore, whether using Classic Army or Echo 1 airsoft guns, an individual should expect to wear protective gear from head to foot, including protective goggles. This ensures the safety of individuals who are shot with a pellet, whether or not it is on purpose or by accident.
