Categorizing Heart Tattoos and Other Designs

Unbeknownst to many, tattoos can fall into five different categories or groups. Because of the creativity that is so common in tattoo art, there are times when a design can fit into more than one category. Abstract tattoos, such as tribal tattoos, refer to designs that are archaic in design or inspiration. Though often graced with heavy lines, they are currently the most popular type of tattoo for both men and women alike. Devotion tattoos are designs such as heart tattoos that express love or the commemoration of loved ones. Naturalist tattoos often have to do with the scenery of nature. Things such as flowers, animals and butterfly tattoos would all easily fit into this category.
Simple tattoos are quite popular as they consist of fun and cheerful designs of cartoon characters or zodiac signs. The last category is referred to as complex tattoos. These tattoos consist of larger, detailed designs or a combination of designs that cover parts of the body. This includes tattoos that are placed on unique or special parts of the body such as the face. These tattoos can have one theme or many different ones at the same time. Complex tattoos are often worn by only the biggest of devotees to skin art.
