Insuring Items in Tool Boxes for Trucks

If you have a pickup truck that includes a tool box in the bed then you probably store items in your vehicle that are worth a decent chunk of money. Tools, camping gear and outdoor sports equipment are often stored in tool boxes for trucks. Make sure that you don’t forget to include these items when you’re getting insurance.

The most common type of insurance that you’ll get to cover items stored in these boxes is home owner’s insurance. These are items that may be stored in the home but could also be stored in the truck. Auto insurance doesn’t typically cover these items so you’ll want to include them in your home insurance. If you have a business and items stored in the truck are related to the business, you may also look at covering this under your work insurance.

It’s important to figure out how to insure these items so that they don’t get overlooked. Although the toolbox is typically secure, the items may still be stolen (particularly if there is theft of the vehicle) and you’ll want to be able to replace them. Remember to look inside your trailer tongue utility boxes and tool totes, too. You don’t want anything to get missed because then it can’t be claimed if it’s damaged or lost later.
