When Meds Aren’t Covered by Health Insurance

I just recently got finished watching the movie Sicko by Michael Moore. I’ll admit that I’m a Michael Moore fan despite the fact that I think he presents his information in quite a one-sided manner. In any case, the movie is about the state of medical insurance and health coverage in the U.S. today. As anyone with a health insurance plan here knows, it’s a state that pretty much stinks.

One of the problems is that a number of different medications don’t seem to be covered by health insurance. Anything that is considered to be “alternative” or “experimental” will not be covered even if it has proven to be effective. For example, if you wanted to use hgh products to combat an ailment, you would have to pay out of pocket because hgh is considered to be an alternative medicine.

It is difficult to pay for medications that aren’t covered. If you wanted to buy hgh, you would probably look online for the best deal on the product. If you didn’t have the money, you might choose to get a medicine that was covered by your insurance even though it wasn’t as effective for you as hgh. These are the decisions that we are forced to make in a country where health insurance is a business instead of just a right.
