Researching Florida drug rehab programs for my thesis

With only a few months left in graduate school, I really need to get my thesis work kicked into high gear. Given that I’m interested in the way the mind works to become interdependent upon external substances, a large portion of my work deals with the concepts surrounding addiction. Also given that I live in the Sunshine State, I’ve decided to start on-site research at a local Florida drug treatment facility.

So much is unknown regarding the way the brain works. And this says nothing about the mind, or how we as individuals use the organ made up of our brain matter. A professor summed it up early in my college career when he told his students that the brain is an organ driven by biological processes and the mind is an abstract concept driven by thoughts.

So, as I started to list out which Florida drug rehab facilities I would go to, it occurred to me that being able to observe the premises and move freely to interact with staff might be the optimal way to go.

In reaching out to site administrators, I soon discovered that short of entering treatment as a patient, I would not likely be allowed access such as this. After a bit of thought, I realized this is as it should be.
