Life Insurance Basics

There are many reasons why buying life insurance may be a good idea. Here are some examples:

If people depend on your income, life insurance can replace that income if you die. Parents with young children should consider life insurance to help support their kids in the awful circumstance that the parents might die while their children still need financial support. Additionally, if your spouse would be financially stricken by the income lost through your death, life insurance should also be considered.

Another reason it is beneficial to purchase life insurance is to help pay for your own funeral and burial costs, probate and other estate costs that will be incurred by your own death. These expenses can be quite large and the beneficiaries will be able to use the funds for the debts.

Some people even purchase life insurance policies to create an inheritance for family members or make a donation after they die.

Finally, there are certain types of life insurance policies that allow you to use them more as a retirement package. If not paid out as a death benefit, these policies can be borrowed or withdrawn on the owner’s request.
