Insurance for Equipment in the Office

 

People who operate a small business often don’t realize that they should get insurance for the equipment that they are using to keep the business going. This is a particularly important issue for small businesses that are leasing their equipment but it is something that all businesses should think about whether they are renting their equipment or they own it outright.

There are many different reasons that you might need insurance for your equipment. The equipment might break down and therefore your productivity and profits will be stalled - plus you’ll have to pay to repair the equipment. Or you might become the victim of business theft and lose the equipment entirely in which case you’ll have to pay to replace it.

Of course, not all equipment in a business would need to be insured. Let’s say that you’re in a business that does a lot of paper cutting. You use things like paper cutters and rotary paper trimmers. You would want to insure large and expensive equipment, like your commercial stack cutter. But you wouldn’t need to insure all of your equipment; the guillotine cutter can probably go insured. Avoid the problems that come with being uninsured by making sure to insure the right equipment in your small business office.
