If you are looking for individual or family health insurance in Florida, you will want to do some careful comparison shopping to make sure you get the best possible deal. Here are a few tips to help you in your quest for health insurance.
- Research first. Before you start getting quotes or looking into any plan too heavily, you’ll need to do your research. Do this first so that you don’t get caught up in one plan before you’ve shopped around to know whether it’s a good deal. You can find a lot of information by shopping online for search terms such as FL health insurance. Make note of what providers cover your area.
- Call around for quotes. Before you commit to any plan, call around or submit online requests for quotes. Be sure to ask about more than just how much the policy will cost you. You also need to know things like how much the copays and deductibles will be, whether you have a pre-existing condition under their definition, and if so how that will affect your coverage.
- Weigh all your options. When weighing several health insurance plans against one another, be sure to compare all of the various things listed above, such as copays and pre-existing conditions. A policy that seems inexpensive on the surface may not be once you figure in how much you’ll have to pay out of pocket.
Health insurance is incredibly important to have. By logically approaching the decision of which plan to choose, you will be much more likely to find the best deal available for you.

Home insurance can be quite expensive, so it’s useful to look for ways to save money on your premium. Basically, anything that either minimizes the likelihood that the insurance company will have to pay out on your policy, or reduces the amount they’ll have to pay, will earn you a reduction in your premium. For instance, you could:
- Make sure you have deadbolts on both your front and back doors. These are considered safer than just having doorknob locks, and reduce the likelihood of someone being able to break in.
- Equip the house with smoke alarms and fire extinguishers. You can usually get a small discount by putting smoke alarms on every floor, to ensure you will catch a fire in its early stages, and fire extinguishers, to help you put out small fires on your own before they become big enough to do real damage.
- Install a security system. A good ADT home security system helps prevent burglaries and vandalism by deterring thieves with signs, and helping the police catch them if they break in anyway. The amount of your discount might depend partly on where you live — for instance, having ADT in Las Vegas might be more valuable than having it in another part of the country.
- Set a higher deductible. One of the classic ways to save money on your insurance premiums is to set a higher deductible. This means that you will be responsible for paying more of the claim out of your own pocket should something happen to your home. However, make sure that you can afford the higher deductible before doing this — it doesn’t do you any good if you can’t come up with that amount of money.
- Group your policies. Another classic way to save money on insurance premiums is to group all your policies together: home insurance, car insurance, etc.
My economics teacher in high school told us you should always insure what you can’t afford to replace. I can’t say I know anyone who would be able to replace their home if something happened, so everyone should have home insurance, whether their mortgage has been paid off or not.
Fortunately, this doesn’t mean you can’t save money on your home insurance! What are some suggestions YOU would give someone who wanted to save money on their home insurance premiums?

With only a few months left in graduate school, I really need to get my thesis work kicked into high gear. Given that I’m interested in the way the mind works to become interdependent upon external substances, a large portion of my work deals with the concepts surrounding addiction. Also given that I live in the Sunshine State, I’ve decided to start on-site research at a local Florida drug treatment facility.
So much is unknown regarding the way the brain works. And this says nothing about the mind, or how we as individuals use the organ made up of our brain matter. A professor summed it up early in my college career when he told his students that the brain is an organ driven by biological processes and the mind is an abstract concept driven by thoughts.
So, as I started to list out which Florida drug rehab facilities I would go to, it occurred to me that being able to observe the premises and move freely to interact with staff might be the optimal way to go.
In reaching out to site administrators, I soon discovered that short of entering treatment as a patient, I would not likely be allowed access such as this. After a bit of thought, I realized this is as it should be.

There is a lot of debate and confusion about whether you can still get 80/20 mortgages and therefore avoid having to pay for mortgage insurance. For instance, this article claims that we’ve reached the end of the zero percent down payment, while on this discussion thread several experts claim that it is still possible to get a mortgage without a down payment.
So what is the truth? As with most things, the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle. It’s hard to find any information on the topic online, and many loan companies are still advertising 80/20 mortgages. Most likely people with good credit and income can probably still get them — I would imagine that their standards are simply a little stricter than they used to be.
In short, I don’t think you should give up hope of getting a mortgage and buying a new home in Carlsbad CA, even if you don’t have a down payment. Talk to several lending companies and see what they have available, get pre-approved, and then start house hunting. You might not be approved for as high an amount as you might have been once, but you may still be able to choose between the many gorgeous live work lofts and townhomes in Carlsbad.

People in the medical field have perhaps even more to lose than a regular person should they ever be struck down in an accident or something that happens to leave them suddenly with a long term disability. After all, dentists and physicians have spent considerably more time and racked up considerably more bills in medical and dental school than the average person. So it is important for them to look into Dentist Disability Insurance and Physician Disability Insurance respectively.
I think that people in the medical field can sometimes underestimate how important it is for them to insure themselves for accidents or anything that would leave them with an unexpected disability. I do not think that they really realize how devastating this can be for not only their practice but their entire life, if they have not already adequately taken this sort of thing into consideration. I know my friend found that out the hard way. He was a doctor and she was a dentist. They were both in a car accident and both ended up with long term disabilities. It has been such a hard time for them, and one that would have been made a lot easier had they been insured for that sort of thing.
